Getting started

The following is a quick start guide of mining Monero on Windows 7 or greater x64.

To mine Monero you need a GPU or CPU, Monero account and miner.

Account can be obtained in several ways. The simplest way to register on one of exchanges.

Miner can be downloaded from the link below.

Claymore(AMD)Claymore(CPU)tsiv miner(NVIDIA)Wolf miner(AMD/CPU)

Extract the archive to any folder.

Claymore miner:
Edit config.txt and epools.txt: replace YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS with your Monero address, YOUR_WORKER_NAME and YOUR_EMAIL. If you mining to exchange wallet set YOUR_PAYMENT_ID.

Other miners:
Edit start.bat before start mining and set YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS, worker(computer ID for collecting stats) and email address to correct values. If you mining to exchange wallet set YOUR_PAYMENT_ID.

Examples for address, payment-ID, worker and email parameters:

  • Mining to exchange with payment-ID, worker and email:
    ADDRESS.PAYMENT-ID.WORKER/EMAIL
  • Mining to local wallet without payment-ID, with worker and email:
    ADDRESS.WORKER/EMAIL
  • Mining to exchange with payment-ID and worker:
    ADDRESS.PAYMENT-ID.WORKER
  • Mining to local wallet without payment-ID, with worker:
    ADDRESS.WORKER

Address, payment-ID and worker are dot-separated. Email can be specified only with worker. Email separated by a slash.

Execute start.bat

You can create an XMR address using one of Monero clients.

The clients below are ideal if you are using Monero for the first time. They are also useful if you are on a device that cannot run a full Monero node.

If you are able to spare the bandwidth and disk space required to run a full node, doing so helps keep the network stable and robust, and also affords you the maximum privacy Monero has to offer.

There are also several third-party clients that interact with the official Monero core daemon, and are able to provide their own additional functionality.
